He was either loved or hated by those with whom He came into contact; rarely did He leave anyone with a feeling of indifference toward Him.The authorities of His day finally renounced Him as a fake, but The Christ leaves no doubt that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, the “Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”The Christ has many wonderful features:*Organized chronologically by key events in the life of Christ* *Fulfillments of Old Testament prophecies are indicated* *Spiritual application of each event is shown* *Key words from the original languages are explained* *Includes complete Scripture references* *Can be used as a reference book, devotional, Bible study, or individual inspiration* Author Carroll Roberson uses his vast knowledge of the Holy Land, the Scriptures, and the Hebrew language to teach about The Christ in the context of the political, geographical, and spiritual climate in which He lived.
James Ussher (sometimes spelled Usher) (4 January 1581 – 21 March 1656) was Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland between 1625–1656. He was a prolific scholar, who most famously published a chronology that purported to establish the time and date of the creation as the night preceding 23 October 4004 BC, according to the proleptic Julian calendar.
After more than 23 years, it's somehow refreshing to know that age hasn't blunted Slayer's aggression. Christ Illusion, their ninth album, sounds just as aggressive as their 1980s masterpieces Reign in Blood and Seasons in the Abyss - just listen to Tom Araya's rage-filled anti-religious tirade on "Cult", for example. A lot of it is probably down to the return of their original drummer, Dave Lombardo, who's back after a 15 year absence. As a result, the (grand)fathers of death metal sound reinvigorated on tracks like "Flesh Storm" and the powerful headbanger "Skeleton Christ" (this album's highlight). Best of all, Slayer make no attempts to hang themselves on to any new sound - Christ Illusion sounds like nothing other than a great Slayer album, with chugging buzzsaw guitars and blistering guitar solos, as well as a knack for pulling decent songs out of all this noise and vitriol. It's a real return to form for Slayer, one that will both please their old fans and win over legions of new ones. This, kids, is how heavy metal should sound. --Ted Kord
